Juvederm VYCROSS® Frequently Asked Questions

Where can Juvéderm be used?
Juvederm can be used in the upper and lower face to treat smile lines, cheeks, hollows under the eyes, chin, lips and lines around the mouth and jawline.

What makes Juvéderm different?
Juvéderm uses patented VYCROSS® technology that results in a gel that is smooth and consistent, as well as long lasting. Juvederm VYCROSS® fillers can last one year to 18 months.

Is treatment with Juvéderm painful?
Juvéderm is injected into the skin using a fine needle or cannula. Prior to your treatment, a numbing gel will be applied to the skin to minimize discomfort. As well all Juvederm fillers used at Pure Medical Aesthetics have lidocaine in them to further minimize any discomfort you may feel.

How long does treatment take?
Following consultation and a medical and facial assessment by the physician, the procedure itself only takes about 30-45 minutes to perform, depending on how many treatment areas there are.

How much does the treatment cost?
Cost of treatment will vary depending on your specific needs and the area being treated. During your consultation a personalized treatment plan will be designed for you, including treatment cost.

How long before I see results?
You will see an immediate improvement in the treatment area. It can take up to 2 weeks for the filler to integrate into your tissues to fully appreciate your final results. The number of treatments needed varies depending on your concerns and treatment plan. Supplemental “touch-up” treatments may be required to achieve and maintain the desired look.

What is the recovery time following a treatment and is there common side effects?
Juvederm is generally well tolerated. Treatment requires minimal downtime and most people return to their normal routines immediately. Possible side effects are mild to moderate in nature and relatively short lasting (less than 7 days). These may include temporary skin reactions such as redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising. During your consultation a full review of all possible side effects will be
reviewed with you along with pre and post treatment instructions.

Who should not have this treatment?
Your medical history will be reviewed by the doctor prior to your treatment to ensure the treatment is safe for you. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have severe allergies, marked by a history of anaphylaxis, have allergy to lidocaine, allergy to yellow jacket bees, or allergy to gram positive bacterial proteins, you should not have this treatment.

Treatments will only be done when you are feeling well. If you have an active infection, fever, cold sore
or breakdown of skin in treatment area, you should not have treatment until your symptoms have
resolved. As well, a visit to the dentist should not occur 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after your treatment.
